Indications/Uses
As complementary therapy of diarrhea in childn in combination w/ oral rehydration salts.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Dispersible tab Childn 6 mth-5 yr 1 tab daily for 10 days even if diarrhea has stopped. Babies 2-6 mth ½ tab daily for 10 days even if diarrhea has stopped. Syr Childn 6 mth-5 yr 10 mL daily for 10 days even if diarrhea has stopped. Babies 2-6 mth 5 mL daily for 10 days even if diarrhea has stopped. Drops Childn 6 mth-5 yr 40 drops daily for 10 days even if diarrhea has stopped. Babies 2-6 mth 20 drops daily for 10 days even if diarrhea has stopped.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Should be given concomitantly w/ oral rehydration salts or breastmilk during & after diarrhea has stopped.
Adverse Reactions
Prolonged & high dose use may cause anemia, neutropenia. Nausea, bitter taste, vomiting, mouth irritation.
Drug Interactions
Fe-containing drugs. May reduce oral absorption of tetracycline, quinolones (eg, ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin). Absorption may be increased by amino acids ie, l-histidine, l-cysteine, l-methionine.
